5 thing to help combat CANDIDA

Why Antifungal Medicines Can Make Candida Worse

Fluconazole-resistant non-albicans Candida (NAC) refers to yeast infections that do not respond to fluconazole. These species naturally resist standard medicines . Common types include Candida krusei (which is always resistant) and Candida glabrata . Frequent use of fluconazole allows these hardy species to survive and multiply.

Why Resistance Happens
Think of antifungal drugs as a lock, and the fungus as a key. Normally, fluconazole fits the lock and stops the fungus from growing.
Non-albicans Candida species mutate (change) their locks so the key no longer fits . They can also pump the medicine out of their cells before it can work . Overusing oral fluconazole kills the weaker fungi, leaving only these resistant ones to thrive

Common Resistant Species

  • Candida krusei: This fungus is intrinsically resistant to fluconazole . It never responds well to this medication.
  • Candida glabrata: This species often shows reduced susceptibility or builds resistance over time .
  • Candida parapsilosis: Resistant strains of this species are steadily increasing worldwide .
  • Candida auris: An emerging, dangerous superbug that spreads in hospitals and resists multiple drugs

5 thing to help combat Candida

COCONUT OIL

Coconut oil has antifungal properties due to the high amount of  lauric and caprylic acid.

Researchers found that coconut oil could be an effective treatment for fungal infections, particularly for newly resistant Candida species.
MANUKA HONEY

Manuka honey has antifungal properties mainly due to its high levels of methylglyoxal (MGO) . MGO is a natural compound formed in the honey. It damages the cell walls of fungi to stop them from growing. Manuka honey pulls water out of fungal cells through a process called osmosis. This dries out and kills the fungi, much like salt curing meat to keep it safe from germs.

I use the brand, Manukora, because they have a high concentrtion MGO of 850+

They also do testing on every batch ensuring it’s glyhosae free.

GARLIC

Garlic has anti-candida properties because it contains a powerful sulfur compound called allicin . When you crush or chop raw garlic, an enzyme mixes with allicin to form a new compound called ajoene . These compounds destroy Candida albicans by breaking down the cell walls and stopping the yeast from growing.

OLIVE OIL
Olive oil (only fresh, high polyphenol pure olive oil) contains plant compounds like oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol . These act as natural fighters against fungi by damaging fungal cell walls and stop them from forming protective layers, called biofilms.

Don’t Be Fooled

Most olive oil on the mrket is either cut with other oils or do not contain enough polyphenols to make an impact on your health.

Kassandrinos is different.

Their polyphenol content is tested in every batch and their level are currently above the standard.

MAGNESIUM

Magnesium is essential for breaking down the toxic byproducts of Candida albicans . It acts as a key helper for enzymes in your liver that turn harmful waste into safe waste . Without enough magnesium, your body struggles to clear these toxins.

I always recommend Magnesium Breakthrough from Bioptimizers because it contains all 7 forms of magnesium (unlike others that typically contain 1-3 forms). Different types of magnesium help with different areas in our body such as:
  • sleep
  • recovery
  • cognitive function
  • metabolic function
  • blood vessel flow
  • bone health, and of course
  • detoxification
