Sweet Onion Teriyaki Sauce (it’s HEALTHY! – duh)

Remember when I had that crazy “onion idea” in my stories last week? Well here it is!!!!!!

A HEALTHY “Sweet Onion Teriyaki Sauce”! I’m a sucker for Chinese food, but did you know the typical teriyaki sauce contains an absurd amount of sugar…not to mention made from unhealthy ingredients that can destroy your digestion. I’ve listed below the typical Teryaki sauce ingredients for reference.

SOY SAUCE (WATER, WHEAT, SOYBEANS, SALT), SUGAR, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, MIRIN (WATER, DEXTROSE, MIRIN [RICE, ALCOHOL, ENZYMES, SALT], LACTIC AND SUCCINIC ACIDS), WATER, DEHYDRATED GARLIC, SPICE, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, SUNFLOWER OIL, CONTAINS WHEAT, SOYBEANS

My version is:
• Soy Free
• Gluten / Wheat Free
• Refined Sugar Free
• Paleo
…and actually healthy for you!

Make about 1 cup

Sauce Ingredients:
1 large yellow or white onion
oil for pan
1/2 cup Bare Bones Broth (discount: lilsipper10)
1 Tbsp raw honey
1/4 cup Fire Cider (discount: lilsipper)
2 tsp sea salt

Directions:
1. Chop onion and saute in pan with a little oil until they begin to caramelize. Half way through cooking, de-glaze the pan with Bare Bones and let simmer.

2. Once onions are a deep brown / translucent color, remove from heat and puree in blender with raw honey, Fire Cider, and sea salt until smooth.

I mix this sauce with:
Zoodles, purple cauliflower, air fried brussel sprouts, and leftover chicken! So good!
