No Bloat Cole Slaw!

NO BLOAT COLE SLAW!

Does cabbage make you gassy? Bloated? Crampy?

Don’t worry! I understand and got you covered! I used to avoid cabbage like the plague since it gave me all those IBS symptoms…..but I was eating it all wrong! It was either raw (like most people tend to eat it) or fermented in a kraut. Both ways can cause tummy discomfort. But if you prepare it in a way such as boiling it or steaming, you help release the compounds that cause bloat in the first place!

Try this method instead for your go-to grilling summer side!

Ingredients
– 1 (14 oz.) pkg. coleslaw mix (or make your own!)- 1/2 small onion, thinly sliced- 2 Tbsp whole cumin seeds (optional but helps with gas and bloating and adds tons of flavor!)
– 1/2 cup quality mayo
– 1 1/2 Tbsp honey (or granulated sweetener of choice)
– 1 1/2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
– S&P to taste

Method:
Chop up 1/2 of a head of cabbage (or use the bag as mentioned above) and boil in water along with sliced onion and cumin (if using) until cabbage is soft and tender. Drain the contents and refrigerate overnight to chill (or place in the freezer for 30 minutes!). Mix in mayo, honey (optional), acv, and s&p and enjoy immediately or refrigerate overnight – honestly it tastes even BETTER the next day!
