Nutritional Yeast Free “Cheese” Sauce

Finally! A dairy free cheese sauce WITHOUT nutritional yeast! Ok, if you are a dedicated follower on my Instagram, then you know I’ve made a nutrition yeast free sauce before using cauliflower (cauliflower cheese recipe) but perhaps cauliflower is not your thing or maybe you just want to switch up our nutrients?

And if you don’t know why I stay away from nutritional yeast, READ THIS POST and you will think twice about using it ever again. – Worth the read and it may save your or someone you know years of pain.

This sauce is not only Nutritional Yeast free, but also:
• Paleo
• Vegan Friendly
• Keto Friendly
• Candida Diet Friendly
• Easy To Digest
…and takes a quick wiz in the blender to make!

I first paired it with Explore Cuisine’s Organic, Non-GMO pasta (20% off: lilsipper) for a healthy “Mac n’ Cheese” then used the leftovers as a dipping sauce for my air fried fries (you can find where I got my air fryer from HERE along with all the other kitchen gadgets and staple products I use). Along with the fries and burger, I added some pea/brussel puree with an avocado and Evo Hemp’s hemp seeds (USA grown, non-GMO) on the side….funny, I was about to make my go-to Veggie-Avo Dip, but randomly decided to make a “deconstructed” version instead! haha

Ingredients:
1/2 small butternut squash, roasted and skins removed
2 garlic cloves
2 Tbsp cashew butter OR tahini (for a nut free version)
1/4 cup cup Bare Bones Broth – 10% off: lilsipper10 (vegans use water or veggie broth)
1/2 Tbsp mustard
1/4 cup Fire Cider (I used their unsweetened version but any will do)
1/2 tsp curry powder
Sea salt to taste

Directions:
1. Puree everything in a blender (I used my Vitamix) until creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste. If you want your sauce less thick and more “sauce-y,” add and addition cup of bone broth / water and puree again.
*Note: This sauce thickens as it cools, so if you refrigerate it, just heat it up (do not add liquid) and it will “loosen” up again.
