WHY CHOOSE RAW?
When we think of “raw”, we think of “uncooked” – and that’s what raw honey is. Commercial honey is often heavily processed and may even have been chemically refined. Excessive heat destroys the natural enzymes, vitamins, and minerals in honey. Filtering and processing eliminates many of the beneficial phytonutrients including pollen and enzyme-rich propolis.
I’ve been taking raw honey for about 6 years now, and it really is a healing food! I’ve listed just SOME of it’s amazing benefits below.
• Promotes the growth of good bacteria in the intestine
• An alkaline-forming food
• Counteracts acid indigestion
• Kills bacteria and germs
• Reduces inflammation
• Relieves nausea
• Helps predigest starchy foods
• Blocks free radicals
• Aids sleep
• Helps with constipation
• Counters pollen allergies
• Heals wounds, burns, cataracts, skin ulcers, sores and scrapes.
• Provides a protective barrier for wounds

Research by the Palynology Research Laboratory at Texas A&M University tested 60 honey products from supermarkets and grocery stores and found that 76% contained no trace of pollen. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) maintains that any honey products that have been ultra-filtered, as these have, are not actually honey and therefore the health benefits of honey cannot be assumed.
This picture is actually from a hive my landlord saved (he collects beehives and I get all the free raw honey I want!), but you can find raw honey in most health food stores. Just make sure it says “raw” and “unheated”.
